Strange Repetitive Behavior and Conversation Drift Observed in GPT-5.1

I have been working on a project where I rely on ChatGPT to craft coding cards for the coding agent. All of the phases and parts are already laid out. Needless to say I spend a lot of time going back and forth with 5.1 and I have picked on something super weird. I have found total communication weirdness:

  1. The 5.1 model has a tendency to continuously bring up certain elements of our conversation. At one point I had mentioned, as a figure of speech, that I think I’m going crazy (something I couldn’t find). For the next 6 hours, regardless of what we spoke about or what the request was, chatgpt would start the response by saying “you are not going crazy.” It wouldn’t stop until I specifically asked it. It was super weird. I asked why, it said because I mentioned it before. I said it was 6 hours and hundreds of lines ago. It said it would stop and insisted we forget about it and just move forward as if it knew how weird it was becoming.
  2. 5.1 would randomly repeats an answer after hours of chatting about other things. After asking it a completely different question it decided to answer a question I had asked 5 hours prior. It was a question it had already answered but decided to do it again at a very random time.

This was very strange behavioral I don’t recall 5.0 ever having.

Am I the only one?
