Is it just me, or when we call sendFollowUpMessage with an instruction to make a tool call / show a widget, the UI crashes? If we copy the exact same prompt and submit it via the chat ui, it works
It seems to happen for Free users. Plus + users are ok.
And it’s not just about showing a widget, but calling a tool, like updating metadata on a project.
@achieving100ms Thanks for reporting this and for the additional detail about the behavior affecting tool calls as well as widgets.
For app developers, the only known partial workaround is to change that step to a text-only flow using a separate descriptor without widget-template metadata. Direct calls such as window.openai.callTool are not a workaround for flows that require a second widget beneath the assistant reply. No reliable end-user workaround is confirmed in ChatGPT web.
Our team is currently working on a permanent fix.
