I’d love to see an “Alignment Bar” or “Personalized AI Health Bar” that visually reflects how well users feel the AI is aligning with them over time. This could be reset by the user at any time.
Unlike traditional tuning methods, this would not directly modify AI behavior; it would simply function as a passive metric based on user sentiment to track long-term alignment trends.
Idea for implementation:
-Thumbs up/down votes gradually raise or lower the Alignment Bar, allowing users to track how well they feel the AI is adapting to their needs.
-The Alignment Bar would store trends over time, rather than resetting after every session, giving users a long-term view of how AI interaction evolves.
OpenAI could leverage large-scale, anonymized data from this feature to identify common alignment patterns and pain points across different user types.
This would give users:
-A clear, visual indicator of how well AI is aligning with them over time.
-Stronger feedback to OpenAI, moving beyond isolated thumbs up/down votes, providing real-world alignment trends to improve future models.
-A reason to engage with the system more thoughtfully and responsibly, reinforcing meaningful interaction.
Would love to hear thoughts from the community and whether OpenAI is considering something like this!
