The problem
As ChatGPT conversations grow longer, it becomes increasingly difficult to find a specific question, answer, decision, or idea from an earlier part of the conversation.
This is particularly challenging when using ChatGPT for long-term projects that involve many discussions and decisions. Users may need to scroll through a large number of messages just to find a specific piece of information.
The proposed solution
I propose introducing a smart page and card system that organizes long conversations into sequential pages within the original conversation, while preserving the full conversation history.
The system would consist of three interconnected components:
1. Smart conversation pages
Long conversations could be organized into sequential pages, each containing a group of discussions. Completed pages would remain accessible through icons at the top of the conversation, allowing users to return directly to earlier discussions.
2. Smart cards and navigation
Each page could have a card displaying its main topics and key questions. A main conversation card in the chat history could show the conversation title, a general summary, and a list of its pages, allowing users to navigate directly to the section they need.
3. A separate, user-controlled knowledge record
Users could create an organized record of selected information from their conversations. The system could summarize the user’s contributions and the assistant’s responses separately, allowing users to review, edit, combine, or remove selected points.
This organized record would remain separate from the original conversation, so removing information from the record would not delete it from the original conversation.

- Help users review previous decisions and ideas.
- Support long-term projects that rely on ongoing conversations.
- Give users greater control over the information they choose to retain.
