Feel like we needed a heads up before implementing this - I had a 10 second panic attack when I couldn’t find my prompts in the playground
Hello!
As I noticed now - all prompts saved are gone! When I go to page “prompts” - it displays me nothing. Nothing is accessible also with links that we were sending to programmers. How to recover it? Is it temporary bug? It’s huge amount of work - during years lost!
Please visit here:
They do this, and still MONTHS with the playground being useless on Firefox because editing a message will completely wipe the message input box…
You have to “import” presets you had.
And now there is no “share a preset” to show issues.
Also:
The Chat Completions API does not support prompts, variables, reasoning summaries or the file search, web search, image generation, code interpreter, and MCP server tools. Switching will remove all reasoning items and any unsupported tools from the Playground.
Presets for chat completions are destroyed.
Just more attempts at lock-in, I guess.
History is also ruined. They load as “Responses” if you were to try to recover some function of remembering there.
I mean, it’s a cool way to bring Assistants to Responses… but a deprecation stage would have been nice before presets stop working in Completions. Responses still has missing features and undocumented limitations.
It takes effort to remove a feature. I don’t understand why it was done here, and without any notice.
EDIT: Not sure when, but top_p
and temperature
are in Responses now. So I guess the world isn’t entirely over yet!
This is cool and all, but it will lock you in further with OAI. Sorry, just have to call it like what it is.
It’s good practice to revisit your prompts whenever you change the model, even with the same vendor. They want feature parity with Assistants but the problem is that nothing even has parity with Chat Completions yet, and Chat Completions came first.
I started playing with it today first time so can see my prompts but our collaborators can’t see each other’s prompts despite all having owners rights.
