Hello Codex Team!
I actively use Codex Desktop for software development and manage multiple projects, including personal projects and projects for my employer.
I would love to see a feature that allows users to permanently assign a specific ChatGPT account to each project.
The proposed functionality:
- Allow multiple ChatGPT accounts to be signed in simultaneously in Codex Desktop.
- Let users select which account should be used for each project.
- Automatically use the assigned account whenever that project is opened or a task is started.
- Keep the account assignment persistent until the user explicitly changes it.
- Clearly display the active account for each project.
- Keep authentication, subscription usage limits, and project data separated between accounts.
Example use case:
I have two ChatGPT accounts with separate subscriptions:
- Personal account: Used exclusively for my own projects.
- Work account: Provided by my employer and used exclusively for company projects.
When I open a personal project, Codex should automatically use my personal account. When I open a company project, it should automatically use my work account.
I should not need to sign out, sign in again, or manually switch accounts every time I move between projects.
This would be especially valuable for developers, freelancers, and teams who work across personal and corporate environments.
Suggested feature name: Project-Based Account Profiles
Core principle: One project. One account. No manual switching.
Thank you for considering this improvement!
We really appreciate the work you’re doing on Codex.
