Using Codex on Windows day to day, it’s obvious that the application isn’t being developed on it. Or even tested on it.
For example, what do you think should happen when I click on the Maximize button, like in the screenshot below. The form should probably Maximize, right? Wrong? It does whatever this thing is (2nd screenshot). Yes, it makes portions of the screen transparent. The top right actually contains the Minimize, Maximize and Close buttons, but you just can’t see them.
The sidebar is a complete disaster as well. All the previous sessions are listed there, but you can’t see them.
Please buy a Windows PC and test the application on it. They are like $300 at Walmart.
I am a bit torn on this issue because I also use Codex on a Windows machine and can compare it directly with the Mac app. The Mac experience is a lot better for several reasons.
I hope the Windows version continues to improve, and it already is improving.
That said, I do not have the issue you are describing. This is just to say that not every Codex user on Windows is looking at an apparently broken app.
I haven’t done a fresh install. I am reticent to do that because I tweaked UI settings to have the right fonts and sizes and all that. I’d rather not go through that again. And I figured that I don’t need it since there is an update practically every second day. But I’ll try.
However, I should have mentioned that I have a multi-monitor setup. E.g. my laptop screen is turned off and I have 2 monitors instead. Not sure if that makes a difference.
You are right. I checked settings and the “Translucent sidebar” was on for some reason. I don’t remember ever setting it. I only changed font sizes and fonts under appearance - to make it more legible.
Nonetheless, I fail to understand why the setting only kicks in when in Maximized mode or why this setting is needed to begin with.
