Feature Proposal: OpenAI AI Keyboard

One Keyboard. Every Language. A Smarter Way to Communicate.

Dear OpenAI Product Team,

I would love to see OpenAI develop a next-generation AI-powered keyboard for Android and iOS—one that transforms everyday typing into a smarter, more natural, and personalized experience.

The idea is not simply to create another keyboard, but to build a keyboard so useful and intuitive that people around the world actively choose to install it, make it their default keyboard, and keep it on their devices for years.

1. Intelligent Assistance, Everywhere You Type

Imagine having the power of AI directly inside your keyboard, available wherever you write—without constantly switching between apps.

Users could correct grammar, rewrite sentences, translate messages, improve clarity, adjust tone, summarize text, and generate relevant replies directly from the keyboard.

2. Every Language, Every Writing Style

The keyboard should support as many of the world’s languages as possible, including native scripts, regional expressions, transliteration, and multilingual typing.

Whether someone writes in English, Bangla, Arabic, Hindi, Spanish, Japanese, or switches between multiple languages in the same conversation, the keyboard should make communication feel effortless and natural.

3. AI That Understands the Individual

With the user’s explicit permission, the keyboard could learn their preferred tone, vocabulary, language choices, and writing habits.

Instead of producing generic AI-generated text, it should help people express their own thoughts more clearly while preserving their personality and authentic writing style.

4. A Keyboard People Want to Keep

The long-term goal is to create a keyboard that becomes an essential part of everyday digital communication—not because it comes preinstalled or because people are forced to use it, but because it consistently provides more value than an ordinary keyboard.

It should be fast, reliable, intuitive, accessible, and genuinely useful in daily life. A seamless experience, thoughtful personalization, and strong language support could encourage users to recommend it to others and continue using it for years.

5. Privacy, Accessibility, and Trust

Personalization should always be transparent and optional. Users should have control over what the keyboard remembers, how their data is used, and when AI assistance is active. Sensitive fields should be protected, and on-device processing should be used where practical.

The product should also remain accessible to users across different devices, regions, internet conditions, and budgets.

My Vision

I believe OpenAI has an opportunity to rethink what a keyboard can be. A traditional keyboard helps people type; an AI-powered keyboard could help them communicate, create, and express themselves better in every language.

The goal is simple: build a product that people do not merely download, but genuinely value and choose to keep.

One Keyboard. Every Language. Every Smartphone. AI for Everyone.

Thank you for considering this suggestion. I hope OpenAI will explore the possibility of bringing intelligent, personalized AI assistance directly into everyday typing.

Hey, welcome to the forum!

AI Keyboard would be a valuable addition. Thanks for taking the time to share your idea and explain the use case.

I'll pass this feedback along to the product team so they can review the request and decide whether it's something they'd like to implement.
