OpenAI Support Ghosting Customers for Anyone Else?

It looks like OpenAI support has stopped responding for the last week after I provided them to debug logs for my issue.

And when they did respond before this last week, they are typically of no help, giving responses like “We don’t have the ability or visibility” to fix this issue.

@OpenAI, maybe you need to hire more support agents and give your agents proper training and tools to be helpful. This non-existent/pseudo support is going to make you continue to lose customers to Anthropic, as demonstrated by myself and others (See the other TAC thread, not posted by me) who have cancelled their OpenAI subscription due to this lack of support.

Mods, do not bury this post in my locked TAC thread as you have decided to do for my recent posts. This is Feedback issue with the purpose of understanding if the absence of support is affecting others.

@Moderators

Thank you for taking the time to share this perspective. We appreciate and value your feedback. While we can’t promise improvement or provide a timeline, we’re grateful you shared it with us. We’re closing this topic while keeping it visible for reference.

Only two words changed in that prior support copypasta to make it fit here.

You are talking to your fellow users here, essentially.

While there is certainly going to be lots of senseless noise messages sent to support, the developer forum IS a place OpenAI can directly receive high-profile and high quality information from technically-qualified individuals about where they are offering a faulty or failing product platform-wide…and not have to pay out bug bounties. It should not take a “we passed that to someone that passed it to someone who might look when they’re not making the next best thing”. It should be direct interaction and immediate recognition of reports - like OpenAI-employed promoters who can’t stay off Twitter.

We need to get the attention of OpenAI leadership to understand its not only losing customers due to unprofessional support, but its support team is actively trying to silence negative feedback.

Every response from OpenAI support (if you are lucky enough to get a response), is essentially “we can’t help”, followed by “were locking this thread”.

Similar to this. Locked out of Codex because of an old phone number? - #163 by simplelove2000

Clearly a major issue that will eventually affect everyone, issue that has not been resolved or acknowledged… instead of resolving this @OpenAI_Support opts to dismiss & wrap it up with “If this is still happening… contact support” generic dead-end response. Seriously? The entire thread is filled with customers clearly stating that support is useless as they provide no solution and close all attempts to seek a resolution. So they keep punting customers between departments, hoping they’ll eventually go away? I don’t get it.

There’s 0 quality control in the customer service department.. that OR the practice of sweeping deficiencies under a rug is company policy.

It probably makes sense to document this gross negligence.

I am seeing a similar lack of follow-up.

In my case, the support AI assistant eventually escalated the issue after I reported unusually rapid Codex usage depletion that began after the GPT-5.6 release. OpenAI had also previously acknowledged a Codex usage-metering issue, so the current behavior appears potentially consistent with a regression of that earlier problem.

It has now been more than 48 hours without any response from a human representative, case reference, or confirmation that the account-level usage records are actually being investigated.

The most frustrating part is the lack of visibility after escalation. Users are asked to provide screenshots, timestamps, comparisons, debug logs, and other diagnostic information, but there is no way to know whether that evidence has reached the relevant team or is simply sitting in the support queue.

Given that you already supplied debug logs and have heard nothing for a week, this appears to be more than an isolated delayed response. OpenAI should at minimum acknowledge receipt of the technical evidence, provide a case number, and state whether engineering has begun reviewing it.

Silence is especially problematic for usage-related issues because users may experience a significant reduction in the amount of work they can complete for the same subscription expense, with no transparent explanation for what changed or why.

There are more than 700 million customers (people who use their stuff weekly). I suppose waiting a week has to do with that. Like alot!

Maybe a company worth almost 10 billion should spend more of their money on supporting those 700M customers , many that are all affected by the same issues instead of ghosting them

They already lose money by giving ChatGPT free to everyone. I don’t agree. Let them cook!

Its not “free” and the few messages they allow you to send is to their benefit to train their models and bait you into a paid plan like the ones people here pay for, only to get ghosted by support.

A 10B company has no excuse to treat their customers like trash.

taking a week or two for an answer is not treating someone like trash

No, but consistently denying bugs exist to evade accountability and refusing to provide any actual support to customers paying $200/mo or much more definitely is.

What kind of a bug is that?

and did you cancel your subscription now? That would make you a rare piece of unhappy ex customers. Nothing more but rare.

Oh, there are many unhappy OpenAI customers, current and ex-customers, evident by simply searching the forums.

I have read a few posts as you can see in my profile. They are rare and mostly only temporary. If you don’t need any help - not posting what your problem is I suppose you are just a paid troll.

You’re definitely not alone. I’ve had a reproducible Writing Block issue since July 9, received a case number, and provided detailed testing after doing most of the detective work myself—yet there has been no meaningful follow-up, and my own forum thread was locked.

I also don’t accept that OpenAI having millions of users excuses abandoning customers with unresolved issues.
Volkswagen of America serves millions of customers too, but scale does not remove the responsibility to acknowledge problems, communicate, and provide support. I don’t expect an immediate fix, but silence after collecting diagnostic information absolutely feels like ghosting.

To be honest, OpenAI support is much better than anthropic support which does not exist at all.!

Your trash talk will get you nowhere here. A troll like you should know that. While somewhat entertaining, your trolling behavior lacks creativity and purpose. You are nothing but an an amateur.

@please-save-my-earth

Hi there, just took some time to read through your posts in this forum. I understand you may be frustrated because of your issue, but when I review your posts in other threads, I don’t see any attempt to be constructive in your critics.

So my question is why are you here?

Is it to solve your issue or to express your frustration?

In this community, we have a long-standing tradition of not only allowing criticism but actively seeking it out.

How else can we help improve the experience?

That being said, acknowledgment from support does not mean that every issue will be resolved immediately. If the support team says they are looking into it, I fully trust that this is what they are doing.
