OpenAI API Key , cannot use project key but i cannot create a non project key

Hey looking for a bit of help.
My code seems to have an issue with my api , when i put this into chagpt for help it stated i have a project API. it does start SK- Proj… so gpt advised me to make a new key without “proj” .

I know this is 100% a user error and i apologize for wasting everyone’s time, but i am really struggling to figure out how to generate an API without Proj, can someone please kindly advise me? ( very beginner, my apologies)

Hello!

It sounds like you’re using old software that asks for the old style SK- keys. Those are no longer able to be created.

If you share the code, we might be able to help you get it working with a proper modern API key.

Not sure if I am allowed to suggest them or not, but I ran into the same issue and currently use 4o through OpenRouter. They still provide the old-style SK keys without proj.
