Memory is full. New memories won’t be created. You can forget existing memories to make space

Hello there,
I am getting following error.

Memory is full . New memories won’t be created. You can forget existing memories to make space.

But when I try to clear a paragraph or statement from my memory, I get following error.

Failed to forget memory

Anyone can please help in this regard? Thanks!

I am a consumer and these are my thoughts alone.

  • I think this is a feature and not a bug
  • Idea: I do not understand how the memory feature actually works in the backend and how many resources are required in order to facilitate this feature. From my uneducated perspective, it should not be computationally intensive in order to enable this feature. As the categorization of items in ‘memory’ could be facilitated with a simple backend feature, whereby items are being stored in lists of sorts and then the query can then pull up memories from these list. Right now, it is my understanding that all memories are stored in a single repository and hence going back to my comment about this feature not being dependent upon computationally intensive resources. If this assumption is true, then OpenAI may want to enable the mechanism to have the consumers enable a lot of memories and then offer an add-on service in the form of an AI assistant. This AI assistant could then query your memories in different areas/realms (lists or other ways of storing memories). The implementation of such a feature could be bad for executive assistant and maybe junior business development managers and junior business analysts. But on the plus side, such a feature could give the consumers super powers and help unleash a lot of productivity around the world.

With gratitude.
