FYI:
Atlas is OpenAI’s Mac browser built on Chromium.
Not sure how important this is, but I just wanted to clarify this point.

Most popular browsers that leak their identity, perhaps..
Instead of one that can impersonate.

And be a polyglot.
After rereading the ChromiumOS entry I remembered how far this idea can be taken.
Your smart TV comes with OpenAI OS installed, maybe in a few years but would not be surprised at that.
How does one get to that idea, just take a look at the history of Xbox gaming.
Originally there was the Xbox that came with and NVidia GPU, then as the hardware changed, mostly switching from Nvidia GPUs to ATI GPUs (1, 2) some of the games were no longer playable. So Microsoft started working on a way to make all the games backward compatible. Over time they reached a limit and could not make it happened on the console alone, but then they realized that you could use hardware in the cloud and live stream the game and thus all games would be backward compatible, albeit with the console now serving as just a way to display the streamed game.
As time progressed, you could buy a USB stick (no need to buy a Xbox console), insert it into a smart TV then play the games. The USB stick was needed so the Bluetooth enabled game controller could talk to the USB stick to send the game controller events.
Then with deals with the TV makers, the technology was integrated into the TVs at manufacturer and thus we have
So if Microsoft did that, OpenAI can surely do something similar.
Cool, I guess they are just restricting Chromium a lot in the background.
Some feedback from trying to use this at work. My organization uses Microsoft Entra SSO for login to services we use, and it uses “Conditional Device Access” which requires devices to be from approved devices to be able to login. See: “CloudAPAuthEnabled”
It seems Atlas is not passing through device registration information to Microsoft SSO, which means none of the apps we are trying to sign into for work are working.
Hi and welcome to the community!
Looking at the help page for Atlas for Enterprise it appears that many features for Enterprise grade security are still on the roadmap.
If this is a requirement your organization you will need to treat Atlas as out of scope for now.
NICE one, loved the experience so far! I would love to see ChatGPT Atlas support for native WebAuthn / FIDO2, including the PRF (Pseudo-Random Function) extension.
Looking forward for the new internet!
Agree this is really annoying it’s only on Mac. At least it’s not invite only like Sora 2. As a paying windows/android user (like many others, I know) how long until I can use these things?
Thanks ![]()
Can’t wait to start talking to my browser
