Feature Request: Let Users Earn Extra Usage Time by Giving Feedback

I have a suggestion that I think could benefit both ChatGPT users and OpenAI.

When I reach a usage limit and get told that my access will be restricted for several hours, it can be really frustrating—especially when I’m in the middle of something useful and don’t want to stop.

At the same time, ChatGPT regularly asks users for feedback through thumbs-up/thumbs-down ratings and other feedback options.

What if users could earn a small amount of additional usage time by providing meaningful feedback?

For example:

  • A thumbs-up or thumbs-down with feedback could earn a small amount of additional usage time.
  • More detailed feedback could potentially earn a little more.
  • There could be a daily or weekly maximum so it couldn’t be abused.
  • The system could make clear that feedback should be genuine and not simply submitted repeatedly to earn usage.

I think this could create a positive feedback loop: OpenAI gets more useful information about what users like and dislike, while users get a small reward for taking the time to provide that information.

It would also make reaching a usage limit feel less like being told, “You’re done until several hours from now,” and more like, “Here’s a way you can participate and earn a little more time.”

I personally know I would give feedback much more often if I knew it could earn me even a few extra minutes of usage. Sometimes I have a great experience with ChatGPT but don’t think to stop and submit feedback. An incentive would make me much more likely to do it.

Just a thought, but I think it could be a win-win for both users and OpenAI.

Hey @vfish1992,

I agree that this could be a valuable addition. Thanks for taking the time to share your idea and explain the use case.

I'll pass your feedback along to the product team so they can review the request and consider whether it's something they'd like to implement.
