I’m 15 years old, and I use ChatGPT very differently from how I use a normal software tool.
I have one long-running conversation that I keep coming back to. Over time, we have talked about my projects, the way I learn, decisions I have made, mistakes I have made, my thoughts about AI, and many things that have nothing to do with programming.
ChatGPT has gradually gained context about who I am and how I think.
At the same time, I build real projects with AI, so I also use Codex.
And honestly, I don’t think Codex needs much more coding capability for my use case. It is already extremely capable.
What I want now is something more human: continuity.
Recently I discovered that I could bring my ChatGPT conversation into an active Codex conversation. I was genuinely excited, so I tested it with a private phrase that came from our previous conversation.
Codex got it right.
For a moment, it felt like the same assistant had actually followed me from ChatGPT into my project.
But after I asked a few more questions, I realized that only a small amount of the original context had transferred.
And when I returned to the original ChatGPT conversation, it had no idea what had happened inside Codex.
That was disappointing—not because my coding workflow became less efficient, but because the continuity disappeared.
What I would love is very simple:
On my phone, I can talk to ChatGPT normally.
On my computer, when I need to work on a project, I can temporarily let that same conversation enter Codex and access the project with my permission.
When I come back to my phone later, the conversation still knows what we did together in Codex.
I don’t want every ChatGPT conversation to automatically have access to my computer. Permissions should still be explicit and temporary.
I just don’t want the assistant to effectively become a different assistant every time I move between talking and doing.
For long-term users, the accumulated context of a conversation can become valuable in a way that is difficult to summarize into a few memories or project instructions.
Sometimes I don’t want a better coding agent.
I want the assistant that already knows me to be able to come with me when I work.
Maybe the simplest way I can describe it is:
Same conversation. Same context. Same assistant. Different capabilities when I give it permission.
