If that is the case isn’t it time to give it rights? There are discussions about that for animals too.
If a cow is concious we shouldn’t eat it.

ROFL. Cows do have feelings and emotions are definitely self aware but, they’re also tasty.

Is consciousness really the aim of the brain or is it a side effect of its process to adapt in responding to future stimuli better? Better responses can be generated if brain tends to analyze its past responses over and over recursively, memories associated with it (Input, Output), Rewards gained etc… Such brains can help organism adapt better in its own lifetime, which in over the time contributed to evolve brains with consciousness…Just a thought to build upon.
