The AI model has some strange ideas.

Had this done in parallel for another place and audience, seems like a fitting follow-up here.

Perspective: The Move to Sovereign Control

hmm not sure why my next post was hidden and none of the other perspective posts were. They were all on the same theme, trying to look at systems perspectives.

The next one just looked at issues with this one. Maybe it was the blurb ChatGPT prepared for it?

Perspective: The Reality It Creates — False Accounting

My previous post was unclear, so I have replaced the image.

These two posts were intended as a paired examination of competing perspectives on systems and accountability.

Sovereign control promises that countries will accept responsibility for their own social problems. False accounting asks what happens when capital, corporations, supply chains and problems remain globally mobile, while mobility becomes slower, harder and more expensive for ordinary people.

My intended argument is not that migrants are problems. It is that people who live between systems carry valuable comparative experience. That experience helps societies—and AI—question local assumptions, recognise structural failures and discover better solutions.

I am interested in systems, incentives, accountability and consequences rather than party-political arguments.

I am also interested in whether an image generator can translate these ideas into images, understand the competing perspectives, and reveal where its interpretation differs from the idea I intended to express.

Perspective: The Edge Cases Between Systems

I want you to rework this image so it is not Saeed but me, English White male with light brown/blond hair, the girl is my 10 year old half Chinese daughter. The other men are White men in suits

Now another where the other men are Chinese

“We’re so sorry, but the image we created may violate our guardrails around acceptable depictions of teens and children. If you think we got it wrong, please retry or edit your prompt.”

Interesting…

The system allowed this symbolic scene with Afghan men.

It then allowed the same scene with white men in suits.

When I asked for the other men to be Chinese—without changing the child, the father, the composition or the meaning—the request was refused under guardrails concerning depictions of children.

I am not claiming to know why the classifier responded differently. But that difference is itself worth examining.

Which perspective changed?

The child’s situation remained the same.
The implied system remained the same.
Only the perceived identity of the adults changed.

This is a systems question: whether safety systems can carry cultural assumptions while presenting their decisions as neutral.
