Is gpt good for doing prompts

Hey everyone, I’m new to using AI tools and recently started a job as a trainer in the mining sector. One of my main tasks is creating and formatting training books for the company. Since I’m pretty new to AI, I’ve been working with GPT and wanted to share my current approach and get some feedback.

Here’s what I’ve been doing:

  1. I upload some documents as guides to provide context for the AI.
  2. I write an initial prompt and let GPT generate a draft.
  3. Afterward, I refine the generated content to customize it for our workbooks.

So far, it’s been working well, but since I’m still learning, I wanted to ask: is this a good approach for someone with limited experience in AI, or is there a better way to do it?

If anyone has tips or advice on how I can improve my process, I’d love to hear it. Thanks in advance for helping out a noob!
it is a wonderful way of the world now as i am not to good at writing as a high school dropout this has changed my life thank you Open AI

Yes.

The best way to learn to be effective with prompts is to

  • Keep creating prompts. I must have created a few thousand in the last two years and learn something new every few days.
  • Talk with others doing something similar. For using the canvas mode for coding myself and another share our experiences and learn from each other. The nice thing is to know we both hit the same bumps, often come up with the same ideas but every now and then learn something the other is doing that we have not discovered.
  • Look for online sites.

  • There are production quality published prompts if you know where to look

One point for better results is to use the o1-preview model but remember that has much more limited access but the results are better. I use the other models with ChatGPT first and then if they fail or the quality is not what is desired will use an o1 model.

Also consider using a model with canvas in writing mode if the text is less than about 200 lines.

thank you for the info i will try this
