Improved Support for .bbmodel File Generation and Validation in Agent Mode and coding capabilities

Hi OpenAI team,

I’m a Minecraft mod developer currently working on a large-scale project that involves building custom mobs and creature models using Blockbench. I’ve been using GPT-4o and Agent Mode extensively to assist with model creation, texture placement, and formatting .bbmodel files.

The tools are incredibly helpful, but there’s one major limitation: model files often come out incomplete or invalid, which makes it difficult to integrate them directly into my pipeline. Even minor formatting issues — like missing outliner sections or incorrect model_format values — can cause Blockbench to reject the file.

Suggested Improvements:

  1. Stronger internal understanding of .bbmodel standards
Including all required fields and common formatting expectations from Blockbench and Minecraft modding tools.
  2. Built-in validation before file output
Ideally, Agent Mode would test whether a model is structurally sound before offering a download, to avoid repeated failures during import.
  3. Deeper integration with tools like Blockbench (future goal)
Even read-only interaction or previewing capability would make a huge difference for visual tasks.
  4. Session continuity for asset formatting preferences
Retaining model style, structure, and naming conventions across sessions would help maintain consistency in larger projects.

Why This Would Matter:

The ability to generate fully working .bbmodel files would significantly improve the workflow for modders like me. It would unlock faster iteration, cleaner pipelines, and allow creators to focus more on the design side rather than manually debugging output files. in addition, expanding the agent’s coding and configuration file support — especially for modded environments like Forge, Fabric, or Minecraft JSON/CFG systems — would be a huge help. Even small improvements like detecting syntax errors in .cfg or cross-referencing config dependencies would massively improve usability for mod developers.

I appreciate the powerful tools you’ve already made available, and I’m excited to see how Agent Mode continues to evolve. Thanks for your time.
