Dear OpenAI Team,
I appreciate the hard work that goes into making ChatGPT a great tool, and I wanted to share a suggestion for improving the user experience.
Currently, when opening the app, a new session starts by default, which can be slightly confusing or frustrating for users who might expect session continuity. I understand now that this behavior is intentional to optimize performance, reduce data transfer, and improve scalability. However, this reasoning isn’t immediately clear to most users.
I suggest including a brief FYI notification or tooltip explaining why a new session starts by default. Something simple like:
“Starting a new session by default helps keep things fast and efficient by reducing data and processing needs. You can still revisit saved chats for continuity.”
This small addition could enhance transparency and reduce confusion, helping users understand the system better while appreciating the intentional design choices.
Thank you for considering this feedback! I look forward to seeing how ChatGPT continues to evolve.
Best regards,
Jason
