How to use an Assistant (created using API) in chat.completion endpoint?

For the Assistant endpoint the documentation talks about creating threads and messages and all. But can I not use an assistant in the chat.completions endpoint just as we work with other GPT models. the reason I’m asking this question is because I’m looking to create an Assistant and then use the “response_format” field under chat.completions to ensure consistent response format but this field I couldn’t find in the API for Assistants. Any help or guidance will be much appreciated.

Is it possible to set the response_format as json when using the assistant api instead of the classic chat api? Doesn’t seem to be a way to do it in the docs, but seems silly since you can set files, tools, system messages, and more at the assistant, thread, and message level when using assistant api.
