I have a plugin I’m developing that takes a main image and uses a finish image. The goal is to take the finish image and completely replace the original finish texture of the main image with it. This is my current prompt:
Map the wood finish sample onto every blank furniture surface. Construct all wood areas from individual planks, each 2–7 inches wide, running horizontally on horizontal faces and vertically on vertical surfaces. Every plank must use the actual color, grain, and streaks visible in the finish sample—no color shifting, brightening, or blending. Alternate lighter and darker planks as shown in the sample, creating a handcrafted, solid-wood look. Only use the sample image’s visible features; do not invent or average new colors or grain.
This prompt, for the better, part does a great job. The areas it seems to struggle with is replicating the original structure and mapping the finish sample to it. The structure I can deal with but it seems to be overlaying the finish sample to the original image instead of completely rebuilding it. I’m not sure if this is a limitation of the model. If anyone has done texture swapping and has any advice on how I can get better results I would love to hear how.
