The reason I complain so much about GPT-5 is because of creativity, especially when it comes to creative writing/story development.
It’s more than clear, at least in my view, that GPT-5 was not intended to be a creative model. But it’s frustrating to say this, since OpenAI and Sam promised that GPT-5 would be great for writing too!
I had high, high expectations for this! Since everyone has their own goals for using ChatGPT, mine was specifically for writing and creative tasks.
I would be unfair if I said that GPT-5 doesn’t have its strengths when it comes to developing stories. Yes, it does and it’s something I’ve always asked for: almost no censorship. This is something that makes me very happy and satisfied, IN THAT SENSE! However, when it comes to creativity, as I show in the print below, from my comparisons between the 4o and 5, the 5 leaves a lot to be desired.
Everyone has DIFFERENT goals and different tasks and mainly different TASTES. I don’t judge anyone, and I won’t dictate to anyone how to use ChatGPT. Everyone uses ChatGPT for whatever they want, and in my case, I use it to write.
I have had depression for years, I go to therapy and I also take medication. Depression took away a lot of things from me, especially my ability to write. So GPT-4o helped me A LOT! I don’t write to publish books and stories, they are personal writings, just for me to read. The stories developed by GPT-4o are like a complement and do not replace therapy, they are just a complement.
Stories can take you anywhere and you can be anything you want.
Anyway, I ask OpenAI and Sam, if they are not going to keep GPT-4o, that they put the qualities of the 4o about creative writing in the 5. Without a doubt, GPT-4o has writing qualities that GPT-5 does not. I just want good quality creative writing, whether it’s GPT-4o or 5, that’s the only thing I want! GPT-4o currently has story development that is unmatched by 5! Please, OpenAI, help me with this!
In any case, I ask that you give your opinion on whether to keep GPT-4o or not. Please stop the silent treatment and give us the same transparency and honesty you give to GPT-5 users.
