GPT-4 forgets recent conversation and mixes up context — even in new chats

Hi, this is my first post.
I’m not a developer — just a regular ChatGPT Plus user working on a long, story-based project using GPT-4.

Since June 15th, I’ve been running into a strange and disruptive issue.
In the middle of a consistent conversation, GPT suddenly forgets recent context and starts responding with content from what seems like a different, unrelated conversation.

Even in brand new chats, GPT sometimes generates scenes or information that were never mentioned before, as if it’s mixing in memories or context from elsewhere.
This completely breaks the flow of the story and makes it very hard to continue.

I’ve already tried everything I can:

  • Memory is ON
  • Chat history is ON
  • Temporary Chat is OFF
  • I reinstalled the app, cleared cache, and tried different browsers
  • I submitted bug reports with screen recordings

Despite all this, the problem still happens — and it’s very frustrating.
I’m working on something that depends on emotional continuity and structured storytelling, and this bug ruins the consistency I’ve been carefully building.

If anyone else has experienced context-mixing or memory-related issues, please let me know.
And if someone from OpenAI sees this, I would be so grateful if you could look into it.

Thanks for reading. I really want GPT to be a tool I can trust to build something meaningful — not something that forgets what we just shared.
