It’s insane this extension is the only fix for this. Until more solid backend solutions are met, the OpenAI UI/UX team should navigate a work-around for this. This feels like this issue alone will ultimately be a deal breaker in competition with Gemini.

Hopefully some solution like this gets implemented in the standard web app ! I don’t understand why OpenAI cannot do this by default.

Not an expert so forgive my ignorance. When you say “It trims the hidden DOM nodes the web UI accumulates while preserving the active conversation path the model needs,” does this delete everything in the thread that’s longer than the N number I set it to or does it hide it and I can still “scroll up” to see older parts of the thread?
