Feedback for bringing some changes

Hello OpenAI Team,

I am a student and a regular ChatGPT user. I use ChatGPT extensively for studying, learning new concepts, taking notes, revising topics, and analyzing images. While the current experience is excellent for learning, I believe a few features could significantly improve ChatGPT as a long-term study and knowledge-management platform.

1. Text Highlighting for Revision

Problem

Many users revisit old conversations to revise concepts. However, there is currently no way to highlight important information directly within a chat.

Suggested Solution

When users select text (similar to the current copy functionality), provide an additional “Highlight” option.

Possible Features

  • Multiple highlight colors (yellow, green, blue, etc.)
  • Highlights remain saved when reopening the conversation
  • Support for both light mode and dark mode
  • Option to view all highlighted sections in a conversation

Benefits

  1. Faster revision of long study sessions
  2. Makes ChatGPT feel more like a digital notebook
  3. Helps students focus on key concepts without rereading entire conversations

2. Gallery-Style Browsing for Uploaded Images

Problem

When multiple images are uploaded, users must open one image, close it, and then open another image separately. This becomes inconvenient when discussing multiple screenshots, notes, assignments, or photos.

Suggested Solution

Allow users to swipe left or right between uploaded images, similar to a phone gallery.

Possible Features

  • Swipe gestures on mobile devices
  • Previous/Next navigation buttons on desktop
  • Zoom functionality while browsing images
  • Quick image counter (e.g., 3/10 images)

Benefits

  • Faster image comparison
  • Improved user experience during multi-image discussions
  • Better workflow for students and professionals working with multiple screenshots

3. One-Click Conversation to Notes/PDF Conversion

Problem

Many learning conversations become very long. Revisiting and extracting important points later can be time-consuming.

Suggested Solution

Add a “Generate Notes” feature that automatically converts a conversation into structured study material.

Possible Output Formats

  • Short Notes
  • Detailed Notes
  • Bullet-Point Revision Notes
  • Exam Revision Sheet
  • Mind Map
  • PDF Export

Benefits

  • Converts hours of learning into organized study material
  • Saves significant time for students
  • Encourages long-form learning within ChatGPT
  • Makes ChatGPT a complete learning and revision companion

Overall Vision

These features together would transform ChatGPT from a conversational assistant into a complete learning notebook and revision platform.

The combination of:

  1. Highlighting important information,
  2. Easier image browsing, and
  3. Automatic note generation,

would greatly improve the experience for students, educators, researchers, and lifelong learners.

Hey @Aryan_Poonia_013, welcome to the community! This is a really thoughtful set of suggestions, especially from a student workflow point of view.

I can see how highlighting key parts of a chat, swiping through uploaded images more easily, and turning long conversations into structured notes or PDFs would make ChatGPT much more useful for studying and revision.

I can’t share a timeline right now, but this is helpful feedback and I’ll pass it along internally.
