Feature Suggestion: Side Chat Panel for Follow-Up Questions Without Losing Main Context(A Query Box)

The Issue:

When I ask ChatGPT for a comprehensive plan (e.g., project roadmaps, learning paths, etc.), I often have follow-up questions. However, as soon as I ask these questions, the main content gets pushed up in the chat. This results in a lot of scrolling back and forth to refer to the original plan, which makes it difficult to keep track of everything.

The Solution:

Instead of using the side panel for chat history, what if we could have a dedicated side chat panel that is always visible and linked to the main content? This side panel would allow users to ask clarifying questions without disrupting the flow of the main chat.

How it could work:

  • The main chat displays the detailed plan, guide, or content.
  • The side panel would be used for real-time questions, with responses linked to specific sections of the main content (e.g., “Step 5: Why is SHAP used here?”).
  • This would keep everything organized and eliminate the need to scroll back to previous responses.

I think this would make interacting with ChatGPT even more seamless, especially when working on projects that require a step-by-step approach.

I’ve also created a short video to show how this could work in practice. Let me know what you think—I’d love to hear any thoughts or improvements!
