Feature suggestion for "Canvas"

Love the new canvas feature. My only gripe is that I cannot now use the chat for independent brainstorming without updates being made to the canvas document.

Can the GPT be trained to be able to respond to certain questions without always updating the canvas. This would make it more a true “assistant” there to help edit the canvas when I want, and also there to help with relevant brainstorming when necessary.

For me, simply telling GPT “Don’t edit the document yet, let’s first brainstorm” works every time.
