I was chatting with ChatGPT and came up with an idea that could greatly improve the user experience: the ability to receive direct notifications from ChatGPT.
Currently, the model can remember information and bring updates when the user returns to the conversation, but there is no way for it to send alerts or reminders proactively. It would be very useful if ChatGPT could send personalized notifications, whether to remind users of something important, notify them about relevant updates, or track topics they requested to be informed about.
This feature could be configurable, allowing users to choose what types of notifications they want to receive and through which channels (app, email, browser push notifications, etc.).
I believe this would add a lot of value to the service, especially for those who use ChatGPT as a daily assistant. I hope you consider this suggestion!

This would be helpful. I use ChatGPT for weekly policy updates on specific topics. But I have to prompt it every time. It would be helpful if I could just have it deliver them to me every week with a notification without me having to open the app and type in the prompt. I also wish it could check in with me on specific things after a week or month when I ask it to. Kind of like a smarter Reminders app.
Yes, push notifications would be great. If Chat GPT can manage daily tasks and reminders, that would be amazing.
I arrived here after searching because this feature actually does exist and I can’t get it to shut up lol. As a test I asked chatgpt to notify me about when a specific beer I like will be released. It said it set up a scan for once per hour to see if there was news about it and it would notify me if so. Since then (yesterday) it has notified me every hour that there are “no new updates”. Even after repeatedly asking it to stop giving me updates unless there were changes. Four times now I’ve told it to stop but it keeps notifying. So user beware if you ask it to do this. The notifications do work though. I get them in browser if I have the window open (not necessarily showing but open somewhere), on my phone, and via email.
