Feature Request: Subfolders / Nested Folder System in ChatGPT

Feature Request: Subfolders / Nested Folder System in ChatGPT

I use ChatGPT heavily for multiple companies and long-term projects. The current folder/project organization is helpful, but for serious project management it becomes difficult when one company has many different types of conversations.

For example, I have folders/projects for 3 different companies. Inside each company, I need separate subfolders like:

  • Design ideas

  • Marketing campaigns

  • Feature discussions

  • Development notes

  • Business strategy

  • Client/content planning

Right now everything stays at one level, so conversations become messy very quickly. A subfolder or nested folder system would make ChatGPT much more useful for founders, designers, marketers, developers, and business users who manage multiple companies or projects.

Suggested feature:
Allow users to create subfolders inside each folder/project, drag conversations into them, rename them, and maybe color-label or pin important subfolders.

This would make ChatGPT feel more like a real workspace, not just a chat history list.

Hey @xemha, welcome to the community! This makes a lot of sense for anyone using ChatGPT as a real workspace across multiple companies or projects.

Once a Project has a lot of chats, having everything at one level can get messy fast. Subfolders for things like design, marketing, development, strategy, or client work would make it much easier to keep related conversations grouped together.

I can’t share a timeline right now, but I’ll pass this feedback along internally.
