Feature Request: Show remaining upload/data quota and reset time
I would like to suggest a more transparent way of displaying ChatGPT’s temporary upload and data limits.
When working on longer, data-intensive conversations involving many screenshots, images, or uploaded files, users may unexpectedly reach a temporary limit. At the moment, this can be difficult to anticipate because the user may only become aware of the limit when another upload is rejected.
Suggested improvement
ChatGPT could display the currently used portion of the applicable upload/data quota directly in the user interface.
For example:
Upload quota: 72% used
Next reset / capacity available: approximately 2:30 PM
A small progress indicator would also be useful.
Additionally, ChatGPT could provide warnings when certain thresholds are reached, for example:
-
75% used
-
90% used
-
100% used
Why this would be useful
This would allow users to plan data-intensive sessions more effectively. If I know that I am approaching a temporary limit, I can reduce the number of screenshots, combine information into fewer uploads, or postpone less important uploads.
This is particularly useful when ChatGPT is being used for technical troubleshooting, where a longer conversation may require many screenshots, log files, and other attachments.
The goal is not necessarily to increase the existing limits, but simply to make the available capacity and its reset time transparent to the user.
