I’d like to suggest that OpenAI consider offering a full application hosting platform alongside ChatGPT, Codex, the OpenAI API, and MCP.
For developers building business applications, it would be extremely useful to have one OpenAI-managed environment that could provide:
-
Web application hosting
-
Backend/API hosting
-
Managed SQL or PostgreSQL databases
-
File/object storage
-
MCP server hosting
-
Git/Codex deployment
-
Domains and SSL
-
Authentication and user management
-
Logs, backups, monitoring, and scaling
-
Native OpenAI API and ChatGPT integration
The ideal experience would be similar to Azure App Service + Azure SQL, Supabase, Railway, or Render, but deeply integrated with Codex and ChatGPT.
For example, I am developing an operational business platform with a web application, database, APIs, document processing, reporting, and AI features. I would much rather be able to tell Codex:
“Deploy this application.”
…and have OpenAI provision the application, database, storage, MCP endpoint, security, and production environment automatically.
This would make OpenAI not only the intelligence layer of an application, but also the platform on which AI-native business applications are built and operated.
I believe an “OpenAI Cloud” or “OpenAI App Platform” like this could be extremely valuable for developers and businesses already building heavily around ChatGPT, Codex, MCP, and the OpenAI API.
