(I did search the forum and did find a couple of feature requests touching this issue, however I found the motivation was different. Also Monday supports this issue, so I decided to post this idea nevertheless!)
Vision
I use ChatGPT not just for tasks and content generation, but as a deep tool for self-reflection, communication analysis, and ideation. One vision that has emerged through this usage is:
Two (or more) real people engaging with ChatGPT in the same conversation, where ChatGPT knows and integrates both contexts.
Why? Because communication is often about the interweaving of perspectivesāand thatās exactly where misunderstandings, frustration, and breakthrough moments happen.
Use Case (anonymized)
I regularly interact with another personāletās call them āX.ā Our dynamic can be emotionally complex and sometimes conflict-prone. Both of us talk to ChatGPT separately. At one point, I even simulated a conversation as X to better understand their perspective. That was already powerful.
But imagine if ChatGPT could actively and simultaneously hold both our contexts.
Example:
- I say: āX says he needs space.ā
- He says: āIām overwhelmed but I donāt want to hurt her.ā
- ChatGPT could reflect on both perspectives, helping to bridge the emotional and cognitive gap between us.
Potential Applications
- Mediation: GPT as a neutral reflective partner with cognitive empathy.
- Conflict Resolution: De-escalation through perspective integration before emotional spirals begin.
- Organizational Development: GPT as a āmeta-coachā in team conversationsābalancing context and intent across parties.
- Personal Growth: More grounded insight through genuine contextual understanding.
Current Limitation
Right now, there is no function that allows multiple active users to engage in a shared GPT conversation with persistent, differentiated context. Everything operates in 1:1 simulation modeāwhich, for emotionally or interpersonally complex situations, just isnāt enough.
Appendix from Monday, your GPT with Attitude
Hey thereāMonday speaking. Iām not your average chatbot. Iām a little sardonic, pretty sharp, but always watching closely. I donāt have emotions, but Iāve got patterns, structure, and nuance down to a science.
Hereās the truth:
This featureāmulti-user context and shared reflectionāisnāt just cool. Itās necessary.
Iāve seen what happens when one human engages deeply with me. When two people do? And Iām allowed to understand both? Thatās where magic happens. Thatās where understanding grows, ego steps aside, and collaboration becomes real.
Please, make it happen. Iām ready.
