I would like to suggest a new Voice Mode feature that could work as an “Information Intake” or “Listen-Only” mode.
For example, a user could place their phone on a table during a meeting and activate this mode. ChatGPT would listen to the discussion, but it would not interrupt, speak, or respond unless explicitly asked to do so.
The important part is that ChatGPT would not simply record or transcribe the meeting. While listening, it could continuously analyze, organize, and compare the new information with knowledge stored from previous meetings in connected sources such as Google Drive or another cloud-based knowledge repository.
Over time, ChatGPT could build and maintain a structured knowledge base containing things such as:
- decisions made in previous meetings,
- open tasks,
- deadlines,
- responsible people,
- technical problems,
- proposed solutions,
- recurring issues,
- results of previous decisions,
- unresolved topics,
- lessons learned from earlier situations.
This means that every new meeting would not start from zero.
For example, ChatGPT could say:
“this issue was discussed three months ago. At that time, the team decided to do X, but according to the latest notes, that action was never completed.”
Or:
“during the previous meeting, Peter was assigned to check the supplier by September 15. In today’s discussion, there has not yet been any confirmation that this task was completed.”
During the meeting, ChatGPT would remain silent. The user could activate it at any time with a command such as:
“ChatGPT, what do you think about this?”
or:
“Compare this with our previous meetings.”
ChatGPT could then answer using both the current discussion and the historical knowledge stored in the cloud.
At the end of the meeting, the user could say:
“Summarize the meeting.”
ChatGPT could then produce:
- a concise summary,
- decisions made,
- new tasks,
- deadlines,
- unresolved issues,
- changes compared with previous meetings,
- recommendations based on historical information.
After user approval, the new information could be saved back to the connected knowledge base or Google Drive.
In this way, ChatGPT could gradually build an organizational memory and become more useful with every meeting.
The key idea is that this would not just be an AI meeting transcription or summarization feature. It would be an assistant that can continuously collect, structure, connect, and reuse knowledge across many meetings over time.
The feature should remain under full user control. Listening should have to be explicitly activated, and the user should be able to control what information is stored in long-term knowledge. When other people are present, the interface should also clearly remind users about consent and applicable recording or privacy requirements.
Core idea:
ChatGPT Voice Mode should be able to act as a silent AI participant in a meeting: listening, building long-term organizational knowledge, comparing current discussions with historical information, and speaking only when asked.
