Feature Request: Help Users Organize and Find Chats/Information

I’m a long-term user who uses ChatGPT for deeply layered creative and intellectual work—most notably, developing books, psychological models, trademarks, and frameworks that evolve through iterative conversations.

While memory helps preserve long-term context, it doesn’t support organizing my workflow. I’ve found that returning to and continuing the right prior chat is the key to maintaining nuance and continuity—especially when developing complex ideas across multiple interrelated themes.

The problem is: without the ability to organize, tag, or hierarchically group chats, it becomes increasingly difficult to locate and build upon past conversations. As my work grows, the risk of losing valuable insights or accidentally duplicating effort grows with it.

Here’s what would make a huge difference:

  • The ability to tag chats by concept (e.g., “Trademark Notes,” “Guiding Principals,” “Book Appendix Notes”)
  • Hierarchical chat organization or nested folders to group related sessions
  • Bookmarks or pinning to mark milestones or turning points within long chats
  • Search across my own chat history with filters for date, tag, or content type, either within the current project or folder, or including subfolders.

Speaking of bookmarks - it would be incredibly useful to be able to add tags to bookmarks also.

Even better, if I start a new chat, and it seems to be a continuation of a prior chat, offer to move to that chat to continue.

This kind of structure would transform ChatGPT from a powerful tool into an irreplaceable workspace for users like me who are building long-term intellectual property.

Thank you for considering this enhancement. I truly believe it would unlock deeper creative potential for many serious users.
