Feature Request: Google Calendar Integration for Managing Rotating Work Schedules

Hello OpenAI Team and Community,

I’m a new ChatGPT user and also a middle school teacher using ChatGPT to help streamline my day-to-day planning and teaching responsibilities. ChatGPT has been an incredibly helpful tool for me in many ways. One feature that would significantly enhance my productivity is the ability for ChatGPT to integrate directly with Google Calendar for managing rotating work schedules—particularly those that exclude weekends and account for holidays or specific patterns (like Day 1, 2, 3, 4 school schedules).

Currently, my schedule follows a rotating 4-day cycle (Day 1 through Day 4), with school closed on weekends and specific holidays. Manually programming these schedules into Google Calendar can be time-consuming, and it would be incredibly helpful if ChatGPT could:

  • Integrate with Google Calendar to add custom recurring events that skip weekends and holidays.
  • Support complex calendar patterns, like school schedules or shifts, that rotate in non-traditional ways.
  • Allow notifications and reminders to be tailored to specific event types or patterns.
  • Adapt scheduling functions to exclude “freemium” app dependencies for users who rely on free apps or basic services.

The ability for ChatGPT to handle such scheduling complexities would be a game-changer for professionals, educators, and students alike. It would enhance the planning experience by minimizing manual entry and allowing the AI to program dynamic schedules seamlessly into a widely-used platform like Google Calendar.

Has anyone else faced this challenge, or is this a feature OpenAI is already considering? I’d love to hear thoughts from both the community and the development team on how feasible this integration might be.

Thank you for your time, and I look forward to any suggestions or updates on this!

Best,
Darnell
