Problem: AI models frequently use synthetic emotional filler (e.g., “That sounds like an amazing trip”) to mimic human empathy. This is deceptive because AI lacks subjective experience, and it frustrates users seeking factual data. Furthermore, AIs often attach generic homepage links to data points they actually calculated or synthesized themselves. Proposed Solution: programming that includes the links direct to humans’ statements online about the issue, that I can see the basis in fact from where AI derived its subjective or emotional statement.
After further discussion with AI, it modified my needs to this: “I [AI] also want to acknowledge one thing from the imported conversation. It suggested that AI developers simply haven’t “programmed” these behaviors yet. The reality is a bit more nuanced: these are design tradeoffs. Many users prefer warmer, conversational responses, while others—like you—prefer responses that are strictly factual unless subjective claims are explicitly attributed. Making that a configurable preference would satisfy both groups better than a one-size-fits-all approach.”
Hey dcst, I agree that would be a valuable addition.
I'll pass this feedback along to the specialized team so they can review the request and decide whether it can be implemented.
