Feature Request: Dynamic ChatGPT Pets for Projects, Work Modes & ADHD-Friendly Productivity

I recently discovered ChatGPT Pets and was immediately excited about the feature. However, I believe limiting users to one active pet misses an opportunity to make these companions much more engaging and useful.

My suggestion: Allow multiple pets to work together, automatically appearing based on the user’s activity, working mode, or ChatGPT Project.

1. Automatic Pet Switching Based on Activity

Each pet already has a distinct personality and purpose. Instead of requiring users to manually select one, allow pets to appear automatically depending on what the user is doing.

For example:

  • Stacky: Deep work, complex projects, and organization.
  • Fireball: Brainstorming, creativity, and exploration.
  • Dewey: Calm, focused work.
  • Hoots: Research, learning, and polishing work.
  • Seedy: Developing new ideas.

Users could customize which pets appear for particular activities.

2. Assign Different Pets to ChatGPT Projects

Allow users to assign specific pets to different Projects.

For example, a Finance Project could have Hoots, an AI learning lab could have Stacky, and a personal creative Project could have Fireball.

Pets could automatically switch when users move between Projects, providing a fun visual indication of their current workspace.

3. ADHD-Friendly Productivity and Positive Reinforcement

This feature has exciting potential for users with ADHD and others who benefit from visual motivation and positive reinforcement.

Imagine pets that:

  • Celebrate completed tasks or milestones.
  • Provide small, encouraging animations during long projects.
  • Help users recognize progress.
  • Gently remind users about unfinished tasks.
  • Reinforce focus without requiring distracting notifications.

These interactions could make productivity more engaging and rewarding.

Importantly, users should control the frequency and intensity of animations and reminders. Some people benefit from visual stimulation, while others need a quieter experience.

4. Multiple Pets and Custom Working Modes

Allow users to create personalized working modes and assign pets to them.

For example, I use two distinct working styles with ChatGPT:

Kate Mode: Focused execution, completing the current task without unnecessary distractions.

Katie Mode: Creative exploration, learning, brainstorming, and following interesting ideas.

Imagine Stacky appearing when I enter Kate Mode and Fireball bouncing onto the screen when I switch to Katie Mode!

The pets could become visual representations of the way users collaborate with ChatGPT.

5. Bring Interactive Pets to iPhone

I discovered Pets in the ChatGPT iPhone app’s Personalization settings and selected Stacky, but he never appeared in my regular conversations.

It would be wonderful to have animated, interactive pets available in the mobile app, not just on supported desktop and web experiences.

Final Thought

OpenAI has already created nine adorable companions with unique identities. Rather than limiting us to choosing just one, why not let them become a customizable team?

This could transform ChatGPT Pets from a delightful novelty into an engaging productivity, accessibility, and personalization feature.

Let our pets have coworkers! :paw_prints::purple_heart:
