I’d love to propose an idea that could redefine books: ChatGPT-generated digital books, created from web sources, with full references, structured chapters, and the ability to auto-update over time.

Here’s the idea:

  • Ask and Receive a Digital Book: Users request a book on any topic (“History of Alaska,” “Where Spiders Live,” etc) and the AI generates a fully structured, multi-chapter book.
  • Web-Sourced References: All information links to web sources.
  • Auto-Updates: As new information emerges online, the book can update itself, keeping content new.
  • Library: Books can be saved and organized in a dedicated book section.

Benefits:

  • Deep, book-level knowledge instantly — far beyond chat responses.
  • Time & cost savings — no need to go to a library or pay for expensive books ever again.
  • Always up-to-date — knowledge changes, AI books update.
  • Ultra-personalized — books match user ideas exactly since ChatGPT understands what people say.

This feature would revolutionize education, research, and knowledge access. The impact is enormous: fair, free, personalized, current, and portable books at planetary scale. Anyone could generate a fully web referenced, book-level deep dive on any topic imaginable in minutes.

With a share button on these AI-generated books, imagine a dedicated section in the ChatGPT app where they are freely shared with everyone — essentially a searchable, global library. This could turn ChatGPT into the world’s largest library.

Here’s why this feature would be so good:

An infinite library of free, shared, web-sourced AI books on any topic imaginable is not just incredible — it’s world-changing.

  • It ends knowledge scarcity — permanently.
  • Every human gets free, equal access to reading and creating AI books
  • Any random idea instantly becoming a web-sourced, free, shareable book is absolutely a superpower. It’s a new kind of human ability.
  • Books suddenly stop being personal knowledge (single author) and become collective knowledge (multiple web sources)
