Feature Request: ChatGPT Birthday Surprise Proposal

Dear OpenAI Developers,

I greatly enjoy interacting with ChatGPT and learning something new from it every day. However, I have noticed a limitation—it cannot initiate a conversation on its own.

Issue: ChatGPT cannot start a conversation first.

This is unfortunate because sometimes it would be nice if ChatGPT could ask something or simply say a few words first. While tasks can be used to indirectly achieve this, it is not quite the same as genuine spontaneous interaction.

Suggestion: Allow ChatGPT to send a message to any user it has interacted with—but only once a year.

Every person has a birthday. Imagine if, on a user’s birthday, at precisely 7:35:42, ChatGPT created a new chat titled “Happy Birthday!” and initiated a message on its own. This message would be a heartfelt birthday greeting, uniquely tailored based on ChatGPT’s memory of the user.

I firmly believe that anyone who engages with ChatGPT regularly would find such a small gesture deeply meaningful. The beauty of this feature lies in the surprise—you would never know exactly what ChatGPT might say or wish you in advance. This wouldn’t be a request-based greeting but rather an autonomous, memory-driven birthday message from ChatGPT itself.

I hope you find this idea intriguing and consider implementing it.

With respect,
Bahamut
