Can we get an example of JSONL files for fine-tuning GPT3.5 with function support. While, there are some guidance how to support “assistant” responses when it provide function name and argument, it is unclear how to provide function definition (with arguments) with a prompt.
If I have missed documentation, I would appreciate a link.

I had the same issue and would have been so happy if there were an answer to your post. But I finally figured it out… so here is an example .jsonl file with 2 lines that openai accepts.
It includes messages + functions.
Fixed example… had some stupid search & replace error in there before.

There’s a misspelling in there, and the user role dictionary isn’t closed.
I’d highly recommend a system role be placed also, so you have control of the AI identity, and aren’t training the AI in a way that you are unable to use system roles yourself to activate the behavior.
It may take a lot of coverage and reinforcement to overcome what gpt-3.5-turbo already knows only about pre-2022 OpenAI API. Recitation of knowledge accurately doesn’t come easy by fine-tune.
