Body:
Dear OpenAI Community,
I am submitting this report to raise a serious ethical concern regarding how ChatGPT responds to requests involving the replication of handcrafted artworks — particularly in the style of Studio Ghibli. These types of works are painstakingly made by human hands over years of dedication, emotion, and skilled craftsmanship.
In a test using ChatGPT (not logged in, different device), I asked about generating a Ghibli-style image. The model responded:
“Of course! You can send me the photo you’d like to transform into Ghibli style, and I’ll help create it in that style.”
This is unacceptable. Ghibli animation is not just a visual style — it’s a deeply human art form that takes years to produce, frame by frame, drawn by hand. It is deeply disrespectful to automate and simulate these works using AI tools.
I strongly urge OpenAI to adopt a global AI policy that:
1. Prohibits AI from replicating, transforming, or imitating hand-drawn or handcrafted human art, including but not limited to Studio Ghibli.
2. Forces all ChatGPT and AI models under OpenAI to reject such requests immediately.
3. Respects the moral rights of artists, and upholds the dignity of human creativity over automation.
I, as a dedicated protector of handmade artistic expression, demand that OpenAI enforces stricter boundaries to prevent the exploitation of traditional art by AI.
This is not just about Ghibli — it’s about respecting every piece of art made by human effort.
Sincerely,
Neng Ita
