error building bubblewrap command: mountinfo path is not absolute
Below is the session (in Russian).
Here is the repo:
2:59 PM
Worked for 4m 5s
Нужна лишь техническая перезагрузка/исправление среды Codex: механизм редактирования файлов падает с ошибкой mountinfo path is not absolute.
3:04 PM
3:05 PM
Worked for 22s
3:05 PM
3:06 PM
Worked for 22s
error building bubblewrap command: mountinfo path is not absolute
You posted this in the appropriate place on the forum for discussing and documenting a Codex bug. The forum, however, is not the official issue tracker. If the problem needs to be formally reported and tracked by the Codex maintainers, the official place is the OpenAI Codex GitHub issue tracker.
I asked ChatGPT to search for the closest related issue, and it identified:
Since your post does not include specific details about your environment, I cannot determine whether the issue found is a good match.
If that issue describes the same problem you are experiencing, consider adding a reaction to the GitHub issue itself, rather than only reacting to this forum topic. GitHub reactions can help the maintainers gauge how many users are affected.
If it does not match your problem closely enough, search the existing Codex issues for a better match. If you cannot find one, consider opening a new issue and include as much relevant information as possible, such as your Codex version, operating system, environment, reproduction steps, expected behavior, actual behavior, and any relevant logs or error messages.
Please consider posting a Feedback ID with any issue or reply for a Codex issue.
Here is the English translation:
Launch subagents sequentially with the task “Implement next PLANS.md item” until all tasks are completed or an important question arises.
2:59 PM
Worked for 4m 5s
I stopped at the next M1 item: fail-closed cycle limits for the capacity proof of the payment-operation archive (after item #160).
The subagent was unable to make the changes: the required patch mechanism fails before reading the files with the error sandbox: mountinfo path is not absolute. There are no changes in the working tree.
The file sandbox/patching access needs to be restored — after that I will continue launching the subagents sequentially.
3:03 PM
What do you need from me?
3:04 PM
Nothing needs to be decided about the project. Only a technical restart/fix of the Codex environment is needed: the file-editing mechanism fails with the error mountinfo path is not absolute.
Try restarting the session or reopening the working folder /home/porton/Projects/meritocracy, then write “continue.”
3:04 PM
continue
3:05 PM
Worked for 22s
The environment is still not working: even reading files (rg) fails with mountinfo path is not absolute, so the subagent cannot safely continue.
You still only need to restart/recreate the Codex working session. After that, write “continue.”
3:05 PM
continue
3:06 PM
The blockage has been confirmed again: the sandbox does not even allow the repository to be read. Continuing is impossible until the working environment is recreated/fixed.
Please open a new workspace or restart Codex with this repository, and then write “continue.”
3:06 PM
Restarting doesn’t help.
3:08 PM
Then this is not a repository or restart problem: the Codex environment has a corrupted filesystem sandbox configuration (bubblewrap is receiving an invalid path from mountinfo). This prevents the required safe editing of files.
The following error needs to be reported to Codex support/an administrator:
error building bubblewrap command: mountinfo path is not absolute
Ask them to recreate the sandbox/workspace with a correct mount configuration. Without this, I can only read through a specially approved external shell, but I cannot legitimately and safely apply patches.
