Enhancing Native Reasoning for Tamil in ChatGPT

Dear OpenAI Team,

I greatly appreciate the strides ChatGPT has made with Tamil. It leads in multilingual capabilities, and I’m excited for its future. One observation: responses often seem to follow English-based reasoning patterns, then expressed in Tamil. Tamil’s logic, ethics, and cultural values are unique. To truly flourish, I suggest the model unlearn its English-based assumptions and embrace Tamil-native reasoning—starting from zero assumptions. This would allow ChatGPT to think in Tamil, not just translate. Languages subtly impart moral and cultural frameworks, and embracing Tamil’s own will deepen authenticity. I offer this as a well-wisher eager to see the next leap in multilingual AI!

Warm regards,
Harish Venkat

Thanks for sharing this, @Harishonthelines.

This is thoughtful feedback. I can see the distinction you're making between generating Tamil text and developing stronger Tamil-native reasoning that reflects the language’s own cultural and philosophical context.

I've forwarded your suggestion to the team for internal logging and review alongside other feedback on multilingual language quality.

Appreciate you taking the time to share it.
