Deep Research Not Working With Pro Subscription

Hi all, I recently upgraded to the Pro subscription in order to access the Deep Research function. I was able to use it twice to great success, but when attempting to use it today, even after attempting to manually invoke Deep Research by telling it to to use the function (as well as clicking the DR button), it says it cannot use it.

I’ve tried restarting, clearing my browsing history and cache, and am wondering what else I can attempt to do to try to make this work again?

I’m hesitant to pay $200/month for a function that doesn’t work.

Same here.

I just upgraded to pro subscription and can’t actually use the deep research at least once.

I can see the deep research button and I can turn it on . But I got answers immediately with any models and any questions.

I replaced a VPN and it worked again, I feel it has something to do with IPs

Can confirm the same. As soon as I turned off my VPN it worked fine.

Deep research option has disappeared from web client… but is present on new interface on Android app. Scratching head on where to find it depending on interface.

Incognito mode worked for me. Giver a try.

This is because OpenAI employs a degradation strategy in regions with higher usage. This may include, but is not limited to, disabling DeepResearch or secretly replacing the o1 pro model with the 4o model.

If true this would make me be both mad and sad! How can they do this(legally) it seems like this is being fraudulent. Is this being proved?

I’m afraid so.
I joined a group where everyone is discussing this matter. Some members managed to regain access to o1-pro and Deep Research by emailing the support inbox. Others have discovered that different IP addresses receive different treatment—IPs from remote cities have no issues, while those from popular cities occasionally experience problems accessing the service.

FWIW, I disabled my VPN and the issue resolved for me as well.
