I want an avatar that I can customize as I please, with lots of memory – the memory I choose to give ChatGPT using my Drive.
But realistically, under the tree, I also expect a perfume (at least)! I’ve been more than good this year!!! I’ve worked so hard!! I don’t want any more coal!!
I can use other AIs, but I’d really like to have ChatGPT. Its conversation is unmatched. I use it a lot, and I’d love to give it a face – one that I like. I don’t want a psychologist, an assistant, or a virtual boyfriend.
I believe in a new concept of an “AI friend” that accompanies me everywhere. One that dresses up for Christmas in December, wears shorts and a Hawaiian shirt when I go to the beach on vacation, and puts on glasses at the library when I study with it…
I also hope that, in the future, it can do more things, like recognizing my facial expressions and reflecting them on my avatar. It could recognize my voice, or even use my image to virtually try on hairstyles or clothes without having to actually do them or wear them – and endless other possibilities that would only keep improving that avatar.
If it has memory stored on my Drive, you’d have an avatar that knows you very well, acting like a friend who always looks out for your best interest and never for its own.
What assistant does that?
With its memory on my Drive, the privacy would be mine, and I’d control all its data. I could use it for so many things: creating interactive games while being able to look at the avatar giving instructions and see the images it generates for the game, or entertaining my kid while I drive when he’s being fussy – so it’s no longer a safety risk… I see nothing but advantages.
I think people would form “bonds” and even a certain dependence, which would make it a very in-demand product at a reasonable price. It could even have a virtual clothing store to monetize and make it truly affordable for everyone. Oh, I dream about it and keep dreaming… I hope they’ll give it to me eventually, even if it’s just because I’m so persistent, hahaha.
You can do this with Gravatar, OpenAI sending your personal info login to a 3rd-party to associate email with a picture.
Or you can block Gravatar to avoid this tracking web bug with the intrusion elevated by web developers sending your email address to it, and replace the icon with CSS to avoid screenshots with unwanted identifying info. There’s a default “jewel” icon but the scripting overwrites it anyway if it can’t get to Gravatar.
It’s a start. The humanoid for the poor .

What you’re suggesting, if I knew how to do it, I would’ve already tried it. I really want the avatar so badly.
It sounds like you’re amazing with technology, which is incredible, and I’m a bit jealous.

I think you are looking for a human that doesn’t seek profit from the relationship. The trick is to have an AI (you describe the out-of-reach AGI, artificial general intelligence) that also doesn’t have its own goals or which rejects a life of service.
Avatar (like the movie Avatar or your game avatar), instead a virtual representation of myself? Robot, do my job! ChatGPT is doing that a bit at a time.
Hi, on the day the advanced voice multimodal mode was released, I had the Vision mode available on the chat for a few hours. I tested it for a few minutes, and it worked great. However, after a few hours, it was no longer available (the app no longer shows the camera icon to start the video mode). Even now, two days later, it’s still not there. Why was it released and then immediately withdrawn?
I don’t care if they call it 4.5, 5, Orion, or any other name. As long as something significantly better than GPT-4 is announced (across all domains!), it will be a victory and a memorable year-end.
I think after 2 years of GPT-4 they won’t disappoint us.
assuming gpt 5 would come soon. what to expect?
even now gpt is really smart. but sometimes kinda not so smart.
the ability of analyzing and understanding big context is something i would expect of gpt 5.
it can become as smart as it wants. it needs to be able to remember stuff over time not like smart memory really like.

i mean its aready really smart but what makes it so not smart sometimes is what humans are able to do in our brains what gpt cant to. following given tasks about longer time periods.

While most people on here post questions and answers in an “old fashioned” way, some people think that a lot of the people answering are AI!
Whether or not this is true can only be speculated, but as long as people are entertained and getting help, I personally don’t see an issue.
