I have tried the DALL-E 3 feature of ChatGPT-Plus for the first time today and noticed that it is seemingly impossible to create a portrait/photo/selfie of a man in his mid-30s or 40s without a beard.
Even if I explicitly state the man should be clean-shaven, the model seems to produce a portrait with a beard, and if I ask it to describe the picture it made, it claims the man is clean-shaven, even though he is not. Is the model behind DALL-E 3 just trained on a biased dataset where all middle-aged men have beards?
Here my prompt: “A close-up photo of a completely clean-shaven man in his mid-30s lying down outdoors in a hammock. His face is totally smooth, without any hint of a beard, not even a stubble. The man has very short, slightly wavy dark hair, with a few strands of silver, and a clear complexion. His eyes are a light shade of brown, and he has a straight nose and a rounded jawline. He is looking directly at the camera with just a hint of a smile, his eyes showing a hint of contemplation, and overall a deep sense of comfort and warmth. He’s wearing a plain bright red T-shirt. The background shows dry grass and a few scattered leaves, suggesting a natural setting. The angle of the photo is from above and towards the ground, and captures the man’s face, a part of his right arm which is curved back and supporting his neck, and a glimpse of the hammock’s blue fabric.”
