I am aware, so I agree here, that biological brains process information during sleep. It is by no means a case of the brain switching off.
Sleep and dreams are necessary for biological brains to organize and reorganize information from the active state.
If this process is missing or not sufficiently present, the biological individual can experience problems in the medium term.
However, in the context of the AI and AGI discussion, I think it would be more of an “autodidactic learning” in the active state. This state can be “decoupled” to a certain extent from the direct interaction mode.
Well, I was concerned here with the nomenclature, which could give false impressions because it somewhat “romanticizes” the processes.
