Last week or since updating chat gpt app this week, I cannot use the companion window(My keyboard shorcut is Option-Space). My typed keystrokes are not accepted and when they are they are often deleted after I have typed a few words. Not sure why. Any one else seeing this? The UI is glitchy.

Same, is there any way to downgrade the version? To me, ChatGPT without this feature is no different from Gemini.

The window also freezes at random and can only be moved by dragging a transparent area above the companion window. This always occurs after a second conversation, at which point no input is possible.

I’m currently using version 1.2025.091 which works best for me on macOS 26.2.
Advanced Voice Mode functions well even though it’s being decommissioned on January 15th, 2026. Additionally, it no longer causes high CPU usage compared to the newer versions of the app.

Thanks. This worked to resolve my original issue for me too, though the app crashes when I open my image creation chats. So this is not a technical fix. Noting that this is a bug the latest version.
I believe that chats created with newer versions of the app may crash when opened in ChatGPT 1.2025.091. However, this won’t happen if you start creating new chats with this version. So, while this is not a fix, at least you know why.
