Is anyone else using the codex cli and noticing that the screen width maxes out at 80 chars, despite your terminal being much greater like ~208 chars? Have you figured out a solution?
I would take the codex source from git and ask gpt-5 to fix it, it might take 10 mins tops! Pretty insane.
Is this due to IBM punched cards still?

I definitely feel this should be a configurable option, and that the default shouldn’t be to set at 80.
Unless I’m missing something important, this 80 character limits that force a wrap isn’t a very good user experience.
I am at a loss. It is odd that codex wraps responses at 80 chars. I went so far as to download the app source code and modify it, then came to my senses thinking that was not an optimal solution. I’m going go wait for an easier way to make this work. Migrating to punchcards may be an option…
