Codex for Students: 100$ in credits for US and Canada

This was just tweeted by OpenAI on X:

Meet Codex for Students.

We’re offering college students in the U.S. and Canada $100 in Codex credits.

Our goal is to support students to learn by building, breaking, and fixing things.

^^ Don’t break it if you can’t fix it!

But what if breaking it is how you learn to fix it??

hmmm.. i think i have a 3.5 around here somewhere :upside_down_face:

The AI running a rmdir with a bad powershell path that ends up being root will certainly be an education in “breaking”.

Top Tips for Students:

  • make sure everything on your PC is backed up and in the cloud somehow (this is great practice in any case)
  • learn to use git and push to a remote repository (most suitably GitHub, but there are other options)
  • commit and push code often

Assume that your dog is about to pull the cord out the wall at any moment

Oh and use WSL if on Windows as its very reliable and I’ve yet to have anything accidentally deleted
